A new start- Autumn

Helloo everyone,

I know I haven't posted anything in a while...it's because I was sorting myself out with university, my new job, and completing a few commissions over the summer!

Now that's over I'd like to show you what I've been getting up to and introducing my second blog that will be based around the history behind art and my thoughts that reflect each piece that I will be posting :)

Autumn trees along Calderstones Park ~ Acrylic and oil on canvas
This piece was actually a family based commission in which they wanted a bright, welcoming hall painting. They didn't actually give me a full description on a theme they had in mind; although they gave me a scale and color shades to interpret an image with. Plus I still was in the habit of painting forests, pathways, reflective surfaces and time themes as you can see...
The materials I had used were highly pigmented acrylic and oil paints as I wanted the texture and movement of the leaves on the trees to jump out at anyone that viewed this painting. The techniques and artists that influenced me were a slight touch up on Claude Monet, Sandy Dooley and Paul Cezanne. I tried to adopt and extend a close observation and naturalistic representation to capture nature, color and movement more accurately in this style of working as my client said they wanted a vibrant brightness.

I think this piece could of had an extra layer of paint and minimal detail added to it... looking at it from my point of view and at this time; however they were more than happy to accept it as it stands.
